Fashion week in London

Today the fashion week started in London and I am so excited! It was quite interesting to arrive in England and see how their dress code is here. The people in London are dressing casual and it’s not so different from us in Norway. Jeans is very normal among the women here and the men are also dressing casual, they may have to use suits when they are at work, but most of the time, they are dressing like us in Norway.

The police uniforms in London are really interesting; they got a whole different uniform here then what we have in Norway. In England the cops are wearing tall hats (bobby helmet), yellow or black jackets and black trousers. I think the police uniforms in Norway are really boring compered to the ones Englishmen wear.

In England they are using school uniforms. Each school has their own uniform and you have to wear it every day. School uniforms are an old tradition and it started when King Henry 8 ruled over England. In 1870 elementary school got available for all the children and the school uniforms got popular all over England. Most of the schools in England have school uniforms, but it is some few schools without school uniforms too. I am actually pretty happy that we don’t have school uniforms in Norway. I like that I can wear whatever I want in school, but in the same way, it is a little bit stupid that Norway hasn’t got any school uniforms. Not everyone can afford the most expensive and modern closes and whit the school uniforms; you can stop the pressure to buy the expensive and modern clothes that everyone got.

In Norway we haven’t got any fashion week anymore, the news papers say it is a freak show and in the same time, Norway lost their biggest sponsor L’Oreal in the fashion week.  It’s really boring because now I have to travel to one other country to watch the fashion show.

In London, fashion week is a big week and they got plenty of famous designers and good sponsors. Fashion week in London is a very big attraction and all of the best models are modeling in the show.  London is one of the world biggest fashion cities and many of the new fashion trends come from England.   One very famous clothing line from England is Burberry. Burberry is known all over the world and the clothing line was founded by Thomas Burberry in 1856. The famous sports brand Reebok is also from England, it’s quite famous but not as famous as Burberry. Both of the clothing lines are quite expensive, especially Burberry. I visited the Burberry shop in London and it was a whole different experience than what you got when you walk in a normal clothing store in Norway. Once I came in the door, a server came thru me and asked me what he could help me with. I wanted a new Burberry jacket so he guided me to all the jackets and helped me to pick one. I am really happy whit my new jacket, it wasn’t so expensive it only cost 3,995,00 euro!  

I will clearly go shopping some more in the next days, I think I will spend most of my time in Oxford Street because it is so many famous and excellent shops there. I am going to change my whole wardrobe home in Norway, my mom think it’s quite unnecessary, but my dad sais it is okay and he will pay for everything I am buying here in London.

I really hope my big inspiration Cara Delevinge is coming to the fashion week this year. I just love Cara, I am her biggest fan! Cara is one of the most famous models in the whole world. She has done a lot of covers for Vogue, not just in England but in Korea, Australia, Brazil, Japan, Italia and Portugal too. She is also very famous for her covers for Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Stella McCartney, Victoria’s secret and of course Burberry. Everyone knows her from her modeling for Burberry; she is the face to the Burberry collection.
